New website of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo

I am pleased to announce that the new website of the Pontifical Villas is online.

With this new tool, the Governorate wishes to provide greater information on a place that spans different eras and has its roots in the history of the papacy.

The Pontifical Villas are not simply an historic residence with adjoining gardens, but a unique heritage  which on May 27, 1604 was declared an inalienable property of the Holy See and has been definitively incorporated, by consistorial decree, into the temporal domain of the Catholic Church.

For this reason the events of the Pontifical Villas are closely linked to those of the Successors of Peter, so much so that they are at their service.

Recognizing this particularity and uniqueness, with this website we want to show a wider audience the the artistic, historical and faith heritage of the Pontifical Villas.

Visitors in this sense will see the detailed gallery of images as is a stimulus to deepen the knowledge of a world that is often unknown to the general public.

Together with the Instagram profile, it will be a useful means to approach the faithful and pilgrims who are interested in the Pope's residences. In fact, the publication of the web page www.villepontificie.va is a further step forward in the mission of communicating and informing about this special area of the Roman landscape.
